Emergency Tools & Location Disclaimer

Emergency Tools & Location Disclaimer

Effective August 11, 2026. This section applies to the “Find My Zone” feature and any other location or emergency-preparedness tool on this website. It adds to, and does not replace, the Limitation of Liability and External Links terms above.

Use of this tool is entirely at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the San Elijo Hills Fire Safe Council and The AI Shop LLC are not liable for any loss, injury, property damage, or death arising from your use of, or reliance on, this tool or this website. It provides an estimate only — it is not an official evacuation order. Always follow official orders from Alert San Diego and CAL FIRE, and call 911 in an emergency.

What “Find My Zone” Is — and Is Not

“Find My Zone” is a free, informational aid that gives you an estimate of which San Elijo Hills wildfire evacuation zone (0850, 0852, 0854, 0920, or 0921) you may be in, based on your device's location and publicly available zone-boundary maps. It is provided to help you prepare in advance and find official sources more quickly.

It is not an official evacuation order, an emergency alert, an emergency service, or a substitute for any of them. It does not detect fires, monitor conditions, notify you of anything, or tell you whether it is safe to stay or leave. It is a convenience tool only.

Official Orders Always Govern — Call 911 in an Emergency

Official evacuation orders, warnings, and safety instructions come only from public authorities, including Alert San Diego, Genasys Protect, CAL FIRE, the San Diego County Sheriff, and your local fire authority. Those official sources always govern. If anything this tool shows you conflicts with an official order, follow the official order.

In an emergency, call 911. Do not rely on this website, this tool, or any estimate it produces to make a life-safety decision. Sign up for official alerts at Alert San Diego and keep more than one way to receive them.

The Estimate May Be Wrong

The zone boundaries come from third-party public data published by San Diego County / SanGIS, mapped at a scale of 1:24,000, which may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date, and whose accuracy the County disclaims. Your device's GPS or location estimate can also be inaccurate, delayed, or wrong, especially indoors, in poor signal, or near a zone boundary. The tool may show the wrong zone, no zone, or nothing at all. A manual zone picker is always available, and you are responsible for confirming your actual zone with official sources.

Provided “As Is,” With No Warranty

This tool, and this entire website, are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including no warranty of accuracy, completeness, reliability, timeliness, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the tool will be available, will work on your device, will work offline or without a connection, or will be uninterrupted or error-free. Your location is processed on your own device and is not sent to or stored on our servers; we make no guarantee about how your device or browser handles it.

Use Is at Your Own Risk

You use “Find My Zone” and this website voluntarily and at your own risk. You knowingly accept the risk that any estimate may be wrong, unavailable, or delayed, and you agree not to rely on it as your sole or primary source for any evacuation or life-safety decision.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, and in addition to the Limitation of Liability stated above, neither the San Elijo Hills Fire Safe Council nor The AI Shop LLC, nor their respective officers, directors, volunteers, employees, or agents, shall be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages of any kind — including personal injury, property loss or damage, or death — arising out of or relating to your use of, reliance on, or inability to use this website or any tool on it, including “Find My Zone,” even if advised of the possibility of such damages, and regardless of the legal theory.

Hold Harmless

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to hold harmless the San Elijo Hills Fire Safe Council and The AI Shop LLC, and their officers, directors, volunteers, employees, and agents, from claims and expenses arising out of your misuse of this website or these tools, or your reliance on an estimate in place of an official order.

What This Does Not Limit; Governing Law

Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for gross negligence, fraud, or willful misconduct. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of the above may not apply to you; in that case, our liability is limited to the greatest extent the law allows. This section is governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. This disclaimer is written in English; if any translated version is provided for convenience, the English version governs in the event of a discrepancy.
